Maple Leaf Quilt Show could cease to continue

CARTHAGE, Mo. - The quilt show has been part of the Maple Leaf Festival since at least the late 1980's. But, Mary Jo Little of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce says the show will be discontinued if someone doesn't step forward soon to take it over.

Even though the festival isn't until October, she says the deadline for adding the event into brochures is fast approaching. She says the person who ran the event last year can't do it again this year.

"Times getting short," Little explained. "And we've got to find that group or that one passionate person who cares about the quilt show and quilts to step in or we have to make the hard decision that it may not happen for this year."

Little says the immediacy comes from trying to get Maple Leaf brochures printed and out to area tourism outlets by July 4th. For more information on how to volunteer to take over the quilt show, you can call (417)358-2373.
