Man Shot in Officer-Involved Shooting Dies

JOPLIN, Mo. - At approximately 3:48 PM Tuesday, Louis C. Miller, 66, was pronounced dead a local hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation which is still ongoing. The name of the officers involved will not be released at this time.

 

Around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement officers went to serve civil papers at a home at 901 Landreth Avenue. When officers tried to serve those papers, they say Miller produced a knife. That's when back-up was called in. When the other officers arrived, authorities say Miller charged them and shots were fired.
