MOUNT VERNON, MO.--- Livestock specialists believe cattle prices are opening the door for certain management practices. Cattle experts at the University of Missouri Extension in Lawrence County say beef producers should perform some of the practices they've backed away from in the past. With prices going up, producers can afford to try a new practice or two. That includes vaccinating, de-worming, implanting, supplement feeding, fly control and a few others.

"We are looking at some record high prices. If in the past they felt like those practices, they maybe had done sometimes, but decided it was too expensive to do, it's going to pay off this year," said Eldon Cole, University Missouri Livestock Expert.

Some of the practices are an additional resource to improve the quality and quantity of beef production.
