JASPER COUNTY, MO--- Carl Junction Fire Crews have been battling a blaze northwest of Joplin for more than 20 hours. At approximately 1:30 this morning, fire crews arrived on scene near the intersection of Belle Center Rd. and Pump Lane.

According to Carl Junction Fire Chief Bill Dunn, the brush has been burning all night and day after a man set fire to a pile of leaves. The blaze is affecting more than 100 acres of land. Chief Dunn says fire crews have created a perimeter around the effected area to contain the blaze. They are monitoring the area as the fire burns out.
