Officers at a Southwest Missouri police department put down their razors to help support a local charity.
For the rest of the month, Lamar police officers will be participating in No Shave November. Police Chief Rusty Rives says the men are allowed to grow either a mustache or goatee for a contribution that will be donated to a local charity at the end of the month.
Rives says this year the women at the police department are participating by wearing pins. He says along with helping a worthy cause, this lets them say thank you to their community.
Chief Rusty Rives, Lamar Police Department: "It’s a good way to relax policy a little bit, let the guys have a little individuality, but it also allows us a chance to engage with our community, be part of the community and support the community as they support us."
Rives isn't saying which charity the department is donating to just yet, but the goal is to raise at least $300 dollars.
