Pittsburg, KS--- Local kids learn about healthy eating and recycling at the Pittsburg Farmers' market today.
The farmers' market hosts a kids' day event every third Saturday of each month. The kids made arts and crafts, colored pictures, and made windsocks. There was a local cook who made gluten free vegetable pizza for the kids and taught them healthy recipes. Kids day organizer Dana Parsons says it's nice for the kids to have something to do while their parents shop at the farmers' market.
"It's creative for them, it gives them a creative outlet. And, then we tried to do some crafts that are focused on recycling and using recycled products for repurpose. So that's educational also." Dana Parsons, Kids' Day Organizer said.
Each kids' day has a special theme related to healthy living. Parsons says next month they will have a beach day theme.
