COLUMBUS, Ks. - President Trump has declared portions of Southeast Kansas a disaster area.
The declaration includes 27 Kansas counties, including Cherokee, Crawford and Neosho counties in Southeast Kansas.
Governor Sam Brownback filed the request following a severe storm that brought straight-line winds and flooding to the area between April 28th and May the 3rd.
The declaration allows county governments to apply for public assistance funds and activates the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
