PITTSBURG, KS --- Governor Sam Brownback declares the month of September as campus fire safety month in Kansas.

This is the 10th year for the National Campus Fire Safety Month campaign.  It is designed to educate students about the dangers of fire and their role in creating a fire safe environment.

The Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal asks students to not disable any smoke alarms and have a response plan in the event of a fire.

The office also says students should not ignore any fire alarm signals and become familiar with university policies on improper use of appliances, smoking, and candles.
