JOPLIN, MO.--- Mildred Campbell says she isn't used to all this attention.

"I wondered how I lived to 104," said Mildred Campbell, 104-years-old.

She was born August 14th, 1910 and Thursday marked her birthday.

"Everybody is not going to live until 104, but you never know though. I never thought I would either," said Campbell.

Family, staff and residents at National Healthcare in Joplin helped her mark the rare occasion with cake and her favorite song. Marjorie Newton says her mother's secret to a long life is her positive outlook on it.

"Her biggest secret, she just takes things as they come. She never gets upset and has always said every cloud has a silver lining," said Marjorie Newton, Mildred's daughter.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Bill Ward says Campbell's attitude is what makes her special.

"She pretty much brightens your day from her attitude, and it has been that way since the day she got here," said Bill Ward, occupational therapy assistant.

True to her charm, she continued to make everyone laugh today. Campbell says there isn't anything she would change about her past 104 years.

"I've had a good long life. I've had a good family and I've had a lot of friends. I have no regrets," said Campbell.

Now she's working on her 105th birthday. Living long must be in Campbell's families blood. One of her sisters lived to be 101, her brothers lived up into their 90's.
