JOPLIN, MO.--- A comparison of the last 12 months show statistics are essentially flat, just a slight drop of nine wrecks during that time frame. The goal this year is to keep the 2014 total under 1,600. Officers say they are on track for the reduction. They'll be spending extra enforcement time targeting the top causes of wrecks, including failure to yield the right of way and speeding.

"Anywhere you've got a stop sign typically is a spot for that. Construction is always an issue you've got to watch out for. But you know you've still got a lot of congestion on 32nd Street and Range Line," said Sgt. Rusty Rives, Joplin Police Department.

Drivers can expect to see the enforcement efforts centering around Joplin's busiest streets, like Range Line, 32nd, 7th and Main Street.
