JOPLIN, MO.--- Downed tree limbs from this past winter can now line your garden. The City of Joplin is giving away free woodchips to residents. Thousands of downed limbs were collected and recently ground up. A giveaway will be held this weekend. Residents are asked to bring a truck or a trailer to pick up the chips. Trash bags don't generally work since they'll rip.

"Technically, they could of been burned or put in the Kansas landfill, but we chose to chip it up so people could have landscape mulch," said Mary Anne Phillips, Joplin Recycling Center.

The event will be held this Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The pick up location is located at Snow Ball Hill, between Zora and Bell Center.
