GIRARD, KS.--- A Joplin man leads authorities on a pursuit across the state line. Joe Green, 32, is being charged with fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault on an officer and reckless driving. Around 3 p.m. yesterday, Crawford County sheriff's deputies entered a pursuit with a stolen Chevrolet Truck at 171 Highway and 260th Street.

Suspected driver Green turned north on 260th. Deputies attempted several times to deflate the tires on the truck. After the third attempt by law enforcement, the driver eventually came to a stop on 620 Avenue just north of 270th south of Mulberry, where he fled on foot across the Missouri state line. During the pursuit, a Kansas City Southern Train was forced to come to an emergency stop.

Green surrendered by asking a property owner to call law enforcement. He was taken to a Missouri hospital for injuries associated with the pursuit. Railroad officials have asked that Green be charged with criminal trespass. Charges in Missouri are unknown at this time. The incident is still under investigation.
