Joplin Globe hosts 40th annual spelling bee on Monday

JOPLIN, Mo. - More than 75 students from around the area put their skills to the test at Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School Monday morning.

   

But, it was Jefferson fifth-grader Prithvi Nagarajan who won the spelling bee with  'asyndeton' and 'niccolite.'

   

Webb City Middle School fifth-grader Khloe Rhuems came in second-place. Third went to Brodie Lane, a sixth-grader at North Middle School in Joplin.

   

This year's spelling bee was sponsored by Tamko Building Products.
