JOPLIN, MO.--- A late morning fire near 7th Street in Joplin causes damage to a garage and the belongings inside. The Joplin fire and police department responded to this garage fire at 727 Harlem Avenue near Maiden Lane around 11 this morning. It took crews about 15 minutes to put the flames out.

Officials say the homeowner had just finished mowing, put his lawnmower in the garage and then started weed wacking. When he turned around he noticed his garage was in flames. The fire severly damaged all his tools and even burned a portion of his car in the garage.

"Pretty intense. It was under a shed roof attached to a garage. Can determine that we have a riding lawn morewer, different tools," said Dale Brooks, Joplin Fire Marshall.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is being ruled accidental. No one was injured.
