"Today, there was a little bit more furniture coming in and also some of the landscaping around the school to make sure that everything's okay and we have access between the buildings, so we can proceed," says Joplin High School Principal Dr. Kerry Sachetta.
Administrators says starting school later gives Franklin Tech teachers more time to arrange classrooms.
"There were a lot things to get ready in the classrooms, there were a lot of things that we need to do with safety and security procedures," says Dr. Sachetta.
It also benefits high school staff. For instance, cooks using the new kitchen.
"Make sure the cafeteria staff had their opportunity to cook a meal and try out some of their equipment as well as all the other equipment in the building."
He says the extra time has allowed everyone to play catch up, especially the construction crews.
"I think by judging the number of guys here working concrete, landscape, those kind of thins, it looks like they're still going to be able to get the work done that they need to get done," says Dr. Sachetta.
