CARTHAGE, MO.--- Jasper County commissioners approve recommendations to distribute grant money to local law enforcement agencies. The commission approved the Law Enforcement Sales Tax Grant Board's more than $180,000 worth of grant recommendations. Due to the changeover of the radio system within the county, most agencies requested new radios that would be compatible with it. A chairman says this board allows agencies to receive extra money to fund their police departments. There is still about $20,000 of unawarded funds and money left in reserve that can be awarded on an emergency basis.
