A local fire chief is fired due to improper purchases he made with department money.
Chief Billy Moore of the Hickory Grove, Oklahoma Rural Fire Department was terminated this evening at a board meeting. Board members stated that Chief Moore showed "total disregard for following procedures and guidelines" of the department's bylaws.
The board also says Moore violated Oklahoma state statutes regarding making purchases for the department. The board did not release details on what the purchases were. Chief Moore was not present at the meeting, and board members say he was not willing to meet with them prior to the meeting.
