JOPLIN, Mo. - The Joplin Area Food Action Network (JFAN) has been working to implement "Eat Smart in Parks." It's a statewide project funded in part by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
The project is to help improve access to healthier foods, like yogurt, peanuts, and fresh fruit.
"When kids get done playing a soccer game we don't reward them with a sugar snack and a sugar item. Instead, we fuel their body with a healthier snack," says Lori Jones of the Joplin Family Y.
JFAN volunteers will be sampling turkey bacon to local fans at the Missouri Southern Football Game Saturday night.
