Golden City Community Honors Adriaunna Horton's Memory
GOLDEN CITY, MO.--- Adriaunna Horton's family and friends are taking steps to make sure she won't be forgotten. Her friends and family were both involved in designing two separate pieces. Her dad and grandfather designed the headstone at her grave site. A few of her classmates designed the monument in Hazel Park where she was abducted.
"There were some words that wanted to be and needed to be said that wasn't," said James Horton, Adriaunna's Father.
Adriaunna's father, James Horton, says the tombstone was designed to memorialize Adriaunna's favorite things.
"She loved horses, her favorite color pink , and I figured that all three would go together as a good combination," said Horton.
Meanwhile, a few of her classmates designed this monument in Hazel Park where she was abducted.
"She was just a really great friend to us," said Blake Taylor, Friend of Adriaunna Horton.
Blake Taylor is one of four boys to design the Hazel Park monument. They were also the leaders of organizing a park make-over in Adriaunna's memory.
"We just wanted to bring something and she loved horses," said Taylor.
Horton says his family is continuously overwhelmed with the support from her fellow classmates.
"These boys did an excellent job with this monument," said Horton.
It wasn't just her classmates that supported Adriaunna's family, both stones were paid for through generous donations.
"The community all pulled together and everybody did an equal amount, and they helped us out," said Horton.
For Adriaunna's friends and family, it was the final piece to complete the memorial she deserved.
"We got her monument down there and we finally got everything she needs and she's home, and she's got this up here. She'll always be remembered and never forgotten," said Taylor.
Adriaunna was murdered after being abducted from Hazel Park in Golden City last August. Her abductor, Bobby Bourne, is scheduled to be in court on February 3rd.
