NEOSHO, MO.--Some area girl scouts are celebrating the anniversary of the organization in a special way.

40 Neosho Girl Scouts held a 100 year anniversary celebration at the Civic Center this afternoon.

Several guest speakers honored the troops at the event including Mayor Richard Davidson who gave them a proclamation.

Scout leaders say these girls can change the world.

Junior leader of Girl Scout Troop 70353 Shala Long says,

"We have 2.5 million girls worldwide and if there's something that needs to be done..these girls are a good start. We can make a difference and that's what we're trying to do"

The cookie sales the Neosho Girls Scouts made today all went towards the animal advocates organization called Faithful Friends.
