ORONOGO - A Galena man is behind bars after officers say he was captured in a stolen vehicle after burglarizing a home.
Oronogo Police Chief Christopher Carriger says officers arrested Jace Burris, 21, of Galena, KS Saturday during a traffic stop. He says officers stopped the vehicle when it matched the description of one seen leaving the Greystone subdivision where a home had been burglarized. Carriger says during the stop, it was determined Burris was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants out of Joplin, including assaulting an officer. In addition, the vehicle he was driving is believed to have been stolen out of Newton county, while the license plate on the vehicle is believed to have been stolen in Joplin. Along with items believed to have been stolen from the home in Oronogo, officers also found other items they say were stolen out of Joplin and Galena. Officers also found marijuana and methamphetamine on Burris at the time of his arrest. Burris was taken to the Jasper County Detention Center on additional charges of burglary in the first degree, stealing, possession of controlled substances and other charges.
