The 7th Annual FilmSpiva 48-hour film competition begins this Thursday, May 5th. The contest asks filmmakers to create a three minute short film within a 48 hour time period. Anyone can enter. All you have to do is show up at the Spiva main gallery located at 222 West 3rd Street in Joplin at 6 p.m. this Thursday. There, instructions and guidelines regarding your movie will be given out. This year, the winners will be chosen at an event at this year's Third Thursday.

"We're going to have People's Choice Award, but we also have a panel of judges who are going to be picking like best film, best directing, best editing and so on and so forth," said Shaun Conroy, Spiva Exhibits coordinator.

The movie screenings can be seen at the Central Christian Center located at 415 South Main Street between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. during the May 19th Third Thursday event.
