PITTSBURG, KS--- The Four State Farm Show is well underway in Pittsburg, but farm equipment isn't the only thing you can get while you're there. Nursing students at Pitt State University are providing the community with free blood pressure checks.
The future nurses say your blood pressure should be below 120 over 70. The group is conducting the free screenings because they say high blood pressure tends to be a major concern for people in this area, but if they can catch it early, it may make a difference in a lot of people's lives.
"Diet probably impacts the most. It impacts high blood pressure. It impacts diabetes. It impacts lots of health problems. So, that would probably be the number one thing that people in this area need to look at," says Erin Martinez, a nursing student at Pittsburg State University.
Sunday is the last day of the farm show and the nurses will be at their tent at the front of the event from 8am to 3pm.
