Firefighters kick off "Christmas for Kids" this evening

Local firefighters took to the shopping aisles to fill carts with toys of all kinds this evening.

As a part of the Christmas for Kids program, members of the Joplin area firefighters partnered with WalMart for a shopping trip. Area citizens and corporations sponsor funding for firefighters to pick out presents for local children. Families who need help buying Christmas presents this year can submit an application to receive presents and wrapping supplies.

"It's a great feeling to give back to the community, it's a great feeling to give back to the the kids in the area and I know a lot of people love that great feeling. So I think that's why we all do it is we really want to help the kids,” says Adam Grimes, Christmas For Kids Coordinator.

They hope provide gifts for two thousand kids and four hundred families this holiday season.
