WEIR, KS --- An early morning fire claims the home of a Cherokee County family. Six southeast Kansas fire departments responded to a blaze at 3418 Northeast 100th Street in Weir around 5 this morning. When crews arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames. The homeowners and their two children were inside when the fire broke out, but they were able to escape the house without any injuries. Firefighters say they don't know what started the fire, but they don't suspect any foul play. The home is a complete loss, and the family plans to stay with relatives in the area.
