DIAMOND, MO.--- 400 acres of Missouri conservation land goes up in flames this afternoon. It started around 1230 just west of Diamond near Lark and Beach. Authorities say a worker at a near-by horse ranch had a burn pile that got out of control, the winds then fueled the flames, causing them to spread. No structures were threatened in the fire.

"The wind is about the only problem there is right now, because it is changing everything. And so right now we're just kind of trying to get everything we can, so it doesn't spread farther than it already is," said Gordon Skogsberg, Assistant Diamond Fire Chief.

Crews from Diamond, Redings Mill and Duenweg helped fight the blaze. The Conservation Department also brought in a dozer to help put out the flames.
