JOPLIN, MO.--- Demolition is underway in the project to overhaul a local baseball stadium for a new team.
Workers started tearing down the existing home at 321 High Avenue in Joplin Monday. That makes way for a parking lot for Joe Becker Stadium and the professional baseball team that will start play there next year. The Suarez Group has also purchased another home for its expansion with demolition scheduled there for a later date.
Team owners expect to release the new team name later this month. The ballplayers will move into their new home about this time next year.
