Crowder Tech Education holds Day Camp program

It's never too early for young people to start thinking about a career.

That's the main purpose for bringing hundreds of 8th graders from Newton and McDonald counties to the campus of Crowder college this week. It's all part of the annual Crowder Technical Education Center Day Camp program.

Jim Williams of student services says the event has been going on for two decades and each 8th grader picked out two programs ahead of time to check out while on campus.

Jim Williams, Crowder Student Services: "To expose 8th graders to careers and making them start thinking about careers past high school."

Williams says you can expect as many as a half of all the students visiting Crowder this week to go into the tech program when they get older.
