NEOSHO, MO.--- Crowder College received a generous donation to help agriculture students. The Newton County Cattleman's Association donated a calf to be auctioned off at the Joplin Regional Stockyards. The calf was bought 37 different times. Each buyer would donate the calf back to help raise more money for Crowder. New-Mac Electric donated a BBQ grill to go along with the calf. While businesses from the area came to the auction to help bid on the calf.

"We thought of it as the community giving back and making sure that we have a future in agriculture. These students who are in college, will be the future business leaders and hopefully they will do the same when they get their positions as well," said Jorge Zapata, Crowder Agriculture Instructor.

More than $7,000 has been collected from the auction. The money will go towards travel funds for students to learn more about agriculture.
