NEOSHO, MO.--- International students are coming to Crowder College to help make a difference here and abroad. These students came here to earn their paramedic degree. Crowder College is now offering International Hybrid Paramedic Program.

"It's just that feeling of being able to help people," said Kevin Monaghan, Ireland Student.

That attitude is why these students are here. These 25 students from Ireland, Argentina, Philippines, and the United States are earning their paramedic degrees online, while first hand experience in the U.S.

"A lot of assignments, quite of a heavy work load. So its been challenging," said Patricia Marmion, Ireland Student.

Each student is already a certified EMT in their home country, now they just need to earn their paramedic degree. They spent seven months taking online classes through Crowder and are now earning hands on training for the next five months.

"Looking forward to getting into our clinicals and into our placement and having hands on experience," said Marmion.

Kirk Wattman is their professor. He says the hybrid transition has been successful.

"Fantastic students! I have both United States and international students represented in this program, and although we were online for seven months, it seems like I know them very personally," said Kirk Wattman, International Paramedic Instructor.
Once students graduate, they can use their degree anywhere. As for Irish Student Kevin Monaghan, he's ready to use his skills back at home.

"At the moment I'll be going back in May. But absolutely, the flexibility of the course now will allow you to look for future employment here in the U.S. or anywhere in Europe as well," said Monaghan.

Going to school out of the country can be pricey, but grants were used to help pay for the students' tuition. The current class of 25 students will graduate in May.
