WEBB CITY, MO.--- Crowder administrators take the first step in expanding their Webb City campus. Builders and college faculty broke ground this morning for their new 22,000 square foot addition.

The building will include a 9,000 square foot tornado safe room. A Crowder fundraising committee is working to secure $1.5 million in donations to pay for construction. Administrators say the Webb City facility is in need of more space.

"We have the enrollment I think to begin to fill this facility as soon as it's ready, but we've had to restrict it because we haven't had the space. It's absolutely critical to expanding opportunity and education in this area," said Dr. Kent Farnsworth, Crowder Interim President.

The expansion project is expected to be finished by the fall of 2014.
