This can be come a major problem when 80% of sudden cardiac arrest occur in the home.
Allen shirley almost died a few years ago.
With multiple organ failures, doctors say Allen had a one in a 1,000 chance of survival.
Allen says early CPR gave him a fighting chance.
"Early treatment with CPR is literally the difference between me talking her today and me not being here today," Allen Shirley.
Now Allen is healthy and able to meet with one of the doctors that saved his life.
"How do you say thank you to someone who's saved your life?" Shirley says. "The words don't sound enough."
Freeman Health System is offering a CPR course tomorrow from 6:30 to 9:30 pm tomorrow.
It will be held at Freeman Hospital East in the conference room.
