JOPLIN, MO.--- K-9 University is a program that focuses on the impact of drug abuse across the country and the role K-9 teams play in combatting the issue. Con-Way Truckload brought the group in to help workers learn more about how to spot potential problems.

"This is not just for truck drivers, for everybody to understand that you're sitting behind the wheel of an actual weapon. Who's sitting next to you, who's doing drugs? Did you take a pill to go to sleep the night before? Are you still under the influence?," said Angel Soriano, K-9 University.

Experts say that roughly 11% of the American population abuses drugs or alcohol.
