NEVADA, MO.--- A clerical error releases one inmate who should be behind bars. Sean McKenzie, 35, was being held in the Vernon County Jail on theft charges. Those charges were dropped in February and deputies had no reason to hold McKenzie behind bars, but when McKenzie was booked, the jail had also just switched over to paperless records.

The detention officer who checked McKenzie in, accidentally typed in the wrong information, which would later show that McKenzie had no warrants out for his arrest. Kansas authorities say McKenzie had several convictions in Kansas including burglary and escape. Since then, that Vernon County detention officer has been let go. If you have any information of McKenzie's whereabouts, contact your local authorities.
