JOPLIN, MO.--- For many of us, September 11th feels like it happened yesterday, but for elementary school students, they weren't even born yet. Emily Lane is a 5th grade teacher at St. Mary's Elementary School in Joplin. She was in college at Missouri Southern when the Twin Towers were hit. She shared that story with her class during today's lesson on the terrorists attack. Lane says telling history from a first hand perspective is different than other lessons.

"I think the kids might pick up the emotion some and how I teach it. It makes it more real to say I remember it," said Emily Lane, 5th Grade Teacher.

The 5th graders were all born in 2003, two years after the attacks.
