Brad's Beat: McKinley Elementary School Clean Hands Demonstration
By Brad Douglas
JOPLIN, MO.--- How clean are you child's hands? Several kids were put to the test at an area elementary school. Members from Freeman Health System visited McKinley Elementary School in Joplin. They had the kids put on a florescent glow lotion, they then washed their hands and put them under a black light. The light showed the areas that the kids missed washing. Organizers say it really gives the students a look at how important hand washing is to prevent spreading germs.
"This is flu and cold season. We can teach the kids about what happens. Trapping germs so they don't spread them to other children, the more children we can keep in school," said Karen Watts, Freeman Infection Prevention.
Parents are also advised to clean things your kids use often like the remote control, game controllers and ipods.
