CARTHAGE, MO.--- Some Carthage everyday heroes were recognized for their hard work in the community. Mark Twain Elementary held an Everyday Hero Assembly. Some of people recognized included members from the fire department, the police department and the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. Teachers say it teaches the students respect and that not all heroes wear capes.

"The real superheroes, their super powers comes from their heart within. You don't need super powers to be a superhero," said Matthew Scott, 4th Grade Student.

The Everyday Hero Assembly has been a tradition at the school for more than a decade.
