JOPLIN, MO.--- Friday the 13th is generally an unlucky day for most of us, but an area animal shelter is trying to change that tradition. The Joplin Humane Society is hosting a Friday the 13th promotion on its dogs and cats. Every animal with a lucky 13 card on the cage can be adopted for $13. The shelter is currently at capacity and it takes in 30 to 60 new animals everyday. The normal adoption fee is $85.

"Pets that's spayed and neutered, dewormed, all that microchipped ready to go home, you couldn't get an appointment at a vets office for 13 dollars," said Lysa Boston, Joplin Humane Society.

The shelter is open Friday from 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. It's located at 140 east Emperor Lane in Joplin.
