JOPLIN, MO.--- A new display spotlighting a well-loved local artist is getting ready to be shown to the public. Several Thomas Hart Benton pieces will be on display at the Joplin City Hall. The display will open on Tuesday to honor Benton's 125th birthday. Benton was born in Neosho and he painted the famous large mural that is located above the elevators at city hall. It was painted to honor Joplin's 100th anniversary back in 1973. The new display is on loan from his trust in Kansas City.

"They depict things he saw in his life time. Couple of them with the mining background, then we have a water colored piece that is framed that is part of his work as well," said Pat Tuttle, Joplin CVB.

The display at the Joplin City Hall will be open until May 9th and is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week.
