MIAMI, OK.--- Residents in Miami learned a bit of history from their elders today. A Living History Tour was held at the GAR Cemetery. Several family members setup informational displays to share the history of their loved ones. One of the most famous people buried at the cemetery is John Beaver. He was the second chief of the Quapaw Tribe. Organizers say there is so much history in the cemetery that they dont' want the people to be forgotten.

"It's a peaceful place of remembrance. It's a celebration of life. Everyone has a unique life story and we want to tell their story," said Kim Horn, GAR Manager.

GAR stands for the Grand Army of the Republic. It was created in 1892.
