CARTHAGE, MO.--- Cars lined up for several blocks in Carthage this morning. The Carthage Salvation Army distributed their annual Thanksgiving baskets. 179 families were signed up this year for the program, that is up 50 families from last year. The distribution started at 10:30 a.m. with cars starting to line up at 8:30 p.m. Organizers say it takes several days to plan for so many people.

"We're seeing families this year that have never asked for assistance for us," said Lt. Julie Trapp, Carthage Salvation Army.

If you would like to donate money, food or toys for the Christmas distribution, you can drop them off at 125 East Fairview Avenue in Carthage or call them at 417-358-2262.
