BAXTER SPRINGS, KS.--- A well loved Baxter Springs teacher is retiring after four decades in the classroom. Vicki O'Neal began teaching in 1972 at Lincoln Elementary School. For all of those 42 years, she's taught the second grade. This is her last week and says it's hard to say goodbye, but feels it's time. She estimates that she's taught more than a thousand students in that time period. She still enjoys them coming up to her many years later saying they have fond memories of her class.

"Heartwarming feeling to know that there are that many kids out there that I've impacted in a positive way," said Vicki O'Neal, 42 Years of Teaching.

Her last day is this Thursday.
