PITTSBURG, KS.--- Minister Don Smith has done this at PSU for 32 years. Smith collects old bikes donated by individuals from within the community and repairs them for continued use. He decided to do this because most international students are unable to bring bikes with them. Students that rent a bike put down a $35 deposit and they get that back when they return the bike. Smith says he's a mechanically-oriented individual who likes fixing things and as a Christian he believes in helping people.

"They need transportation and I can provide it. Even right now I will help students who bought bikes, because you know, even if they buy a new bike, immediately it needs some tuning or the brakes don't work quite right or something," said Don Smith, Minister of Campus Christians.

So far he has loaned out 90 bikes and is currently fixing up 50 additional bikes that are requested by students. Smith says this program isn't just available to PSU international students, anyone needing a bike can get one on loan.
