Baxter Springs Tornado Damage

UPDATE 9:27pm ---

Officials confirm 25 injuries, with one death. Death has not yet been confirmed weather-related. People may enter the town and residents may enter the damaged area if they show ID that they liven there. Artificial lighting has been brought in.  Damage is to both homes and business. 


BAXTER SPRINGS, KS---Cherokee County David Groves says the storm hit near Bancroft Industries and traveled down Military Avenue, causing damage. At this time officials are treating walking wounded and have set up a triage for the more seriously wounded. Authorities have set up a shelter at 1st Baptist Church for people who have damage to their homes. Law enforcement are asking people to stay clear of the area.
UPDATE 8:15pm --- Kansas Gas confirms a gas leak in Baxter Springs. Public has been sent home due to too many people out and about. Law enforcement and emergency crews are the only ones allowed in the area. Storm victims are asked to go to Baxter Community Center or 1st Baptist Church. 
UPDATE 8:35pm --- Baxter Springs officials have issued a 10pm curfew. Surrounding area emergency crews being sent home. Baxter schools closed on Monday.
