JOPLIN, MO --- Representatives with a local animal shelter hope the luck of the Irish helps pets find a forever home. That's why the Joplin Humane Society Animal Adoption Center kicked off a shamrock sale during the Saint Patrick's holiday weekend. The pets marked with shamrock stickers are on sale for $17. Center representatives say there are nearly 300 animals in need of a home, and holidays are a good time to raise awareness.
"I think they need some luck. Some of them have landed on hard times, and they just need a good family to go to just to get some love and affection, because I think they deserve it," said Alice Waters, Kennel Tech.
The sale started on Friday and will last all day tomorrow.
