SPRINGFIELD, MO.--- Additional charges have been filed against the man accused of murdering and kidnapping Hailey Owens, 10. Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson filed a motion to add a charge of first degree rape and first degree sodomy against Craig Wood, 46. Wood is also charged with first degree murder, child kidnapping, and armed criminal action. The charges stem from an incident that happened in February of this year.

Court documents show Wood grabbed Owens as she was walking down Lombard Street in Springfield. Eye witnesses gave authorities a description of Wood and his vehicle, which helped lead them to a home at 1538 East Stanford. When investigators searched the home, they found Owens' body concealed inside two trash bags stuffed in a small tote. According to an investigator with the medical examiner's office, Owens suffered a small gunshot wound at the base of her skull and also had apparent ligature marks on her arms. A hearing is set for Thursday, April 24th.
