7 Injured, 29 Units Damaged in Apartment Fire

Joplin, MO-- Seven people suffered minor injuries in the Oxford Park Apartment Fire Monday morning.

Two residents were injured. Officials say one woman cut her hand while breaking out a window another complained of smoke inhalation. Both were taken on their own to the hospital for treatment.

Three firefighters were treated on the scene for minor burns.

Two Joplin police officers were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out in building C around 10 a.m.

The fire spread to building B; both buildings were destroyed.

Crews work quickly to make sure that the fire didn't spread to building A. Strong winds complicated the emergency.

At times the wind gusts carried the flames to brush around the complex.

At lease eight of the 29 units damaged are known to be destroyed.

Officials say the fire started in the attic of building C; the cause is still unknown.
