Ozark Amateur: Round 1

The 66th Annual Ozark Amateur tees off this weekend.

It's a local favorite and also a tournament with a history of dramatic finishes. Round 1 teed off Saturday morning with lots of high scores due to swirling winds and rough greens. The reigning champion, Chase Foster was back in town with hopes of reclaiming his title, but he would finish the day in a seven-way tie for fifth. last years runner up, Andrew Maier, was also back out on the course. Maier would finish four over. 
The leader after round one would be Overland Park native, Kyle Kindler, shooting four under on the day. Behind him, some young guns from the area, Joplin high grad Griffen Locke finished two under while Carl Junction native Ethan Hutcheson ended at one under. Five players shot at even par in a tie for fourth. 
Round two tees off at 7:30 am Sunday.
