Teen Challenge- Soup Bowl and Silent Auction- May 30, 2014

Teen Challenge is a faith based rehab program that will be hosting a benefit soup competition.
TEEN CHALLENGE IS A FAITH BASED REHAB PROGRAM. IT STARTED FOR TEENS WITH ADDICTIONS TO DRUGS AND/OR ALCOHOL, ABOUT 1958. THE NEOSHO CENTER IS FOR MEN 18+. THERE ARE NOW CENTERS FOR WOMEN & TEEN CHALLENGE IS CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR PROPERTY IN THE COLUMBIA AREA TO HOUSE WOMEN WITH CHILDREN. TEEN CHALLENGE'S GOAL IS TO RETURN THEM TO THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES AS PRODUCTIVE MEMBERS.

THE NEOSHO CENTER IS PART OF A 14 MONTH PROGRAM. THE MEN OFTEN START HERE & THEN GO TO CAPE GIRARDEAU FOR 10 MONTHS. THEY HAVE BIBLE STUDIES, CHAPEL TIME AND A WORK PROGRAM THAT HELPS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THEY GARDEN & SELL THEIR PRODUCE. THE CHARGE TO THE FAMILY FOR THE ENTIRE PROGRAM IS ONLY $800, SO THEY RELY ON DONATIONS, SPONSORSHIPS AND FUNDRAISERS. THEY ALSO SPEND SUNDAYS MINISTERING IN AREA CHURCHES. THE MEN COME "VOLUNTARILY" BUT IT IS OFTEN OFFERED BY THE COURT AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO JAIL. THIS IS A WONDERFUL PROGRAM AND THEY HAVE (AND HAVE HAD) A HIGH SUCCESS RATE OF ABOUT 83%.
